Main Requirements for the Renter

What Documents Are Needed to Rent a Car

A minimum set of documents is required to draw up a rental agreement:

• passport


• driver’s license.

If the car is rented with an additional driver, the second driver’s documents must also be provided before the rental starts. This is important because only a person included in the agreement and approved to drive may operate the vehicle.

For legal entities, the registration terms are agreed separately. Car rental under a contract, bank transfer payment, and preparation of closing documents are possible.

Security Deposit

A refundable security deposit is required to rent a car at LaoCar. Its amount depends on the selected model, driving experience, renter’s citizenship, and vehicle usage format.

As a rule, the security deposit equals the cost of 1 rental day. For some premium cars, sports cars, SUVs, and high-value models, the deposit may differ.

The security deposit is returned after the rental is completed, provided that the car is returned in the agreed condition, without damage, fines, contract violations, or additional expenses.

Additional Drivers

If the car will be driven not only by the main renter, the additional driver must be specified before the rental begins. To do this, original passport and driver’s license documents must be provided.

The rental price includes 2 drivers. Each subsequent driver can be added to the insurance and rental agreement for an additional fee.

Transferring control of the vehicle to a person who is not listed in the agreement is prohibited. This rule protects the renter, the company, and the vehicle for the entire rental period.

Car Rental for Foreign Citizens

LaoCar provides car rental services to foreign citizens. To complete the rental, a passport and a driver’s license valid for use in the Republic of Belarus are required.

For foreign citizens, the security deposit may be increased. The final terms depend on the selected car, rental period, renter’s citizenship, and planned route.

Car Delivery and Return

The car can be picked up at the LaoCar office or delivered to a convenient location. Delivery and pickup of the car within Minsk are free of charge.

For other destinations, the terms are calculated individually. The car can be delivered to your home, office, hotel, restaurant, shooting location, event venue, or Minsk-2 Airport.

The return format is also agreed in advance. This helps avoid misunderstandings regarding the time, place of vehicle handover, and additional expenses.

Vehicle Usage Territory

The car rental is provided for use within the territory of the Republic of Belarus. The car can be driven around Minsk, the region, and other cities of the country within the agreed terms.

Travel outside the permitted territory is possible, but it is discussed individually. If a trip abroad is planned, it must be agreed before signing the agreement. In this case, additional documents, insurance, power of attorney, and route approval may be required.

Additional Expenses During the Rental

During vehicle use, the renter is responsible for related expenses. These may include:

• paid city parking


• traffic violation fines


• expenses related to violation of the agreement terms


• additional services agreed separately


• possible expenses in case of vehicle damage or violation of operating rules.

Before the rental starts, the manager explains the main terms so that the client understands in advance what they are responsible for during the trip.

Car Booking

To reserve a car for a specific date, a prepayment of 25% of the rental cost is required. After the prepayment is made, the car is assigned to the client for the agreed period.

Booking is especially important during high season, before weekends, holidays, wedding dates, major events, and periods of increased demand.

If a specific model is needed — for example, a sports car, convertible, premium SUV, electric car, or executive sedan — it is better to submit a request in advance.

What Is Prohibited During Car Rental

During car rental, it is prohibited to:

• Transfer control of the vehicle to a third party who is not included in the agreement.


• Use the vehicle for illegal purposes.


• Use the vehicle for fraud, smuggling, transportation of prohibited substances, or any other illegal activity.


• Use the vehicle for profit-making purposes without agreement with LaoCar.


• Violate established speed limits.


• Use the vehicle in conditions that may lead to vehicle damage or violation of the agreement.

If such violations are detected, the vehicle may be forcibly withdrawn without refund of the paid amount or security deposit.

Car Rental With and Without a Driver

Different rental formats are available at LaoCar. If you want to drive the car yourself, you can arrange car rental without a driver. This option is suitable for personal trips, business routes, leisure, a test drive before purchase, or trips around Belarus.

If you do not want to deal with the route, parking, and driving, you can choose a car with a professional driver. This format is suitable for transfers, weddings, business meetings, guest support, events, photoshoots, and executive trips.
